Music is a universal language. It is what connects us on a soul level and touches our heart and mind through a mixture of lyrics and beats. From genres of country, pop, rock, hip-hop, jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, music is what connects us on a global level. For music lovers like myself, we could not survive without music. So, I am delighted to share with you some of the artist who continue to share their musical gift with the world by dropping hot new music to check out in 2019.
Hip-hop artist, Dr. Missy Misdemeanor Elliott has been having a good year, she received an honorary doctorate, won the VMA's video Vanguard Award and dropped Iconology in August 2019.

Soulful R&B Singer, Calvin Richardson, is known as the "Prince of Soul," for his charm, classy, smooth style of fashion for the grown and sexy, and soul felt, honest lyrics that penetrate your heart and mind dropped a new single, Let Me Love On You in August 2019. His new album, Gold Dust, is scheduled to be released October 25, 2019. To me, Calvin doesn't get the recognition that he deserves, but he is definitely a talented young man.
Country Singer, Miley Cyrus, recently separated from her handsome husband, Liam Hemsworth, strategically launched a new condom line titled after her new album, She is Coming, pure marketing genius, which dropped in May 2019.
Hip-hop artist, Rick "Rosey" Ross, is a business mogul, who knows that music is our heartbeat, it pulsates through our veins and penetrates our minds. The "biggie" of hip-hop today has dropped Port of Miami 2 in August 2019 and it is fire!

Pop artist, Taylor Swift, an artist who knows how to work the crowd from pop, to hip-hop to country, Taylor is swift in her craft, dropping Lover in August 2019.
R&B Singer, Chris "Breezy" Brown, is a gifted dancer and singer, who is not without controversy, say what you want about his behavioral misconduct, but you cannot deny is musical talent. Breezy dropped Indigo, in June 2019 and to-date, I've never heard a Breezy song that I don't like.
Other Notable artists who also dropped new music to check out in 2019 include: Tyler, the Creater, Solange, Mary J Blige, Lil Nas X, Raheem DeVaughn, Ariana Grande, James Blake, Lizzo, Chance the Rapper, Logic, Ed Sheeran, Future, Madonna, Two Chainz, Jaden Smith, DJ Khalid, Avril Lavigne, Beyonce', and Khalid.

Philly is a City full of talented individuals, who often go unnoticed, unless they travel to other cities showcasing their talents. A lot of well-known talent came from Philly, or a nearby city in Pennsylvania. You know these familiar faces such as: Will Smith, Jazzy Jeff, Patti Labelle, Harold Melvin, Larry Larr, Tuff Crew, Schooly D, Meek Mill, Jill Scott, Jazmine Sullivan, Teddy Pendergrass, Taylor Swift, Pink, Musiq SoulChild, Direct Current, HustleChild, Chubby Checker, The Roots, Frankie Beverly, Beanie Sigel, Left Eye, Freeway, Billie Holiday, Eve, Boyz II Men, Young Gunz, Hall & Oates, Chill Moody, and Gillie Da King, to name a few.
However, there are other talented artist in Philly whom you might not know or see that are still keeping Philly on the map and recognized as a City full of talented artist. In this September issue, we shine the spotlight on some of those artist.
