MRS. DONNA
CLEMENT-JACKSON

Donna Clement-Jackson was born and raised in the Northwest section of Philadelphia.  She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.  She also has three stepchildren and a combined 15 grandchildren.  Being a young mother and single parent; Donna overcame many challenges while raising her three children.  She is known for always helping people both personally and professionally.  She has taken families into her home who have been displaced as well as provided a safe haven for neighborhood children who wanted to get away from drugs and violence.  She is known as the “go to person,” always available to help family, friends and strangers alike. After her youngest child entered high school,  Donna decided to further her education and earned Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Public Administration.

In 2015, a friend introduced her to a candidate running for Philadelphia City Council at Large, Donna not only volunteered; she dedicated herself to the cause full-time to help with his campaign which he won. He then offered her the position of Director of Constituent Services, a position she still holds today.  For Donna, this is a dream job, because she has a passion for helping others and is an advocate for the underserved and communities in need.

Donna had another dream which was to start a non-profit organization that would aid others in achieving self-sufficiency.  Donna’s vision came to fruition in 2020, when she launched her non-profit, Monday Morning Mom.  Monday Morning Mom’s mission is to empower families and communities by any means necessary while breaking the barriers that hinder them from achieving self-sufficiency.

She describes the ‘Monday Morning Mom,’ as a “Single mother of three working two jobs to make ends meet, she is the grandmother/mother who is raising her grandchildren, she is the mother on welfare trying to get connected to the resources she needs to better herself so that she can support her family, she is the lady down the street that runs the afterschool program, she is the mother trying to help her only child get into college, she is the woman working long hours, saving what she can and making the sacrifices needed so she can buy a home of her own, and yes "she" can also be the single father raising a family on his own   She is so many other things in terms of her individuality; however, when fused as a unit she is and can be the voice of a movement focused on the empowerment of a community.”  Donna shared that she has often been told that she can’t save the world, but her response remains the same, “As long as I can save one person, I have served God’s purpose for my life.”

I am honored to honor you in our December 2020 issue of the Love Exquisite Magazine. I am so proud of all of your accomplishments.  Congratulations on the launch of Monday Morning Mom.  I know you will continue to thrive and empower others.  I am so proud to call you my cousin.
