TENNIS:

 

Farewell and best wishes to two of the greatest tennis players ever, Serena Williams and Roger Federer.   Serena and Roger will retire from Tennis in 2022. Serena has played for 27 years, played in 23 Grand Slams and received four Olympic Gold Medals.  Roger has the overall record for most Grand Slam Singles matches won, with 369 victories during his career.  Roger is one of eight men who have won a career Grand Slam, winning all four Grand Slams at least once, and who has won a career Grand Slam on three different surfaces, hard, grass and clay.

NHL:

 

The Philadelphia Flyers are back after a disappointing 2021-2022 season.  The Flyers will open their season on Saturday, October 1, 2022 versus the Bruins.  The Flyers are scheduled to play three pre-season games.  Regular season will begin Thursday, October 13, 2022 versus the New Jersey Devils.  LET’S GO FLYERS!!!!!

MLS:

 

The Philadelphia Union is in first place in the MLS Eastern Conference with a record of 32 wins and 18 losses. The playoffs begin on October 15, 2022.  The Union clinched the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoff spot.  The Audi Cup is scheduled for November 20, 2022.  LET’S GO UNION!!!!!!!

 

MLB:

 

The Philadelphia Phillies are in third place in the National League East, with 83 wins and 72 losses.  After being swept by the Cubs 6-0, the team dropped into a tie for the final wild card berth.  Bryce Harper returned after a 52 game absence due to a thumb injury, after he was hit with a pitched ball.  Bryce had surgery and returned in September.  If the Phillies make the playoffs this will be the first time since 2011.  LET’S GO PHILLIES!!!!!!

 

NBA:

 

The Philadelphia 76’ers made some acquisitions after a lackluster season.  The team acquired, former Miami Heat player, P.J. Tucker, and former Miami Heat player, Montezl Harrell.  The starting five will be Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, James Harding and P.J. Tucker.  The 76’ers opened their training camp on September 27, 2022.  The sessions will run until October 2, 2022.  Pre-season games will begin on October 3, 2022 versus Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets @ 7:30pm in Brooklyn.  LET’S GO 76’ERS!!!!!

WNBA:

 

Congratulations to the Las Vegas Aces for winning the 2022 WNBA Championship.  The Aces defeated the Connecticut Sun 3-1 in a five game series.  The Championship game MVP is Chelsea Gray.  Gray scored 20 points, six assists.  Gray averaged 18.3 points per game.  Aja Wilson was named WNBA MVP 2022.  This was the second time that Aja was named MVP.  Congratulations Las Vegas Aces!!!!!

 

WNBA’s Brittany Griner remains in Russian prison.  Brittany has been in Russian prison since February 17, 2022.  Brittany pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal substance (marijuana vaping cartridges) in her luggage.  Brittany’s wife and family reached out to President Biden for support and assistance.  President Biden and his team set individual meetings to discuss the case and to inform them that Brittany remains on his mind and that they are working diligently to free her.  FREE BRITTANY!!!!!

 

WOMEN’S FIBA WORLD CUP GAMES:

 

The USA Women’s team scored 145 points in a win over South Korea during the FIBA Women’s World Cup game to advance to the semi-finals.  Team USA will play Canada in the semi-final game in Sydney, Australia.

 

Team USA is in first place with a record of 5 wins and 0 losses.  The Gold Medal Game will take place on October 1, 2022 @ 2pm on ESPN 2.  Shout Out to two Philly players, Kahleah Copper and Betnijah Laney.  LET’S GO USA!!!!!!

 

NFL:

 

The Philadelphia Eagles are back and out for revenge. The Eagles opened their season like a team on a mission with a record of (3-0).  The only NFL team remaining with an undefeated record.  Quarterback, Jalen Hurts, was named The Offensive Player of The Month, Defensive End, and Brandon Graham was named Defensive Player of The Week.  Congratulations to the both of them!  LET’S GO EAGLES!!!!!
