WHAT'S MESSING WITH D?
Photo:Pitchfork
Hip-Hop Artist, Earl Simmons, best known as DMX voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility last month. He had to cancel several show appearances and reported on his Instagram page, "Due to his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, he checked himself into a rehab." Battling with drug addiction is not an easy thing to do, especially when you still frequent the places where they occur the most and have the money to engage in such activities. It is a daily battle that impacts most industry artist, who find it difficult not to succumb to the pressures of temptation that comes with the entertainment industry in the usage of drugs and sex. We have already lost so many talented artist to drug usage and we do not want to lose anyone else. DMX is such a great talent, one of the best lyricist of all time, in my opinion. We are praying for his deliverance and recovery.
If he can win in any battle rap cypher, we know that he can win his battle of addiction. It is sad to see any of the greats go through this. I don't know what trials and tribulations the music industry brings to artist, but we have seen these types of addictions afflict many of our latest and greatest and it is just so sad to see their talents be overcome by drugs and alcohol. There has got to be a more positive and healthy outlet for whatever caused DMX to relapse. We need artist like DMX in the music industry today, so just as his song says, stop messing with D! If you're a true DMX fan, you know what I really mean. Prayers up D!

At the age of 68, honorable U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings, passed away on October 17, 2019 in Baltimore, MD., where he was instrumental in advocating for several civil rights concerns of the people in the State of Baltimore. Rep. Cummings was a civil rights leader and democratic congressman. There are no reports on the cause of his death, but it was reported that he was in hospice suffering from a long battle of health challenges and complications from previous heart surgery. Rep. Cummings was the Chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee and was involved in the process for the impeachment inquiry of the current president. He also served as the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Rep. Cummings was an advocate for change and the betterment of the people, despite race and class. His voice and presence will truly be missed and we know that his efforts will not return void. The most profound words that I recall Mr. Cummings stating was heard at the National Press Club in Washington, where he challenged us to think about the state of our political climate when stating, “Those at the highest levels of government must stop invoking fear, using racist language and encouraging reprehensible behavior. As a country, we finally must say that enough is enough. That we are done with the hateful rhetoric.” As we move forward, I hope that his work will continue through not only the people of Baltimore, but throughout the world. Rest well Representative Cummings and thank you for your selfless service.

Actor, Rapper, and Philly native, Will Smith, brings us an intense drama/thriller movie starring in a dual role in the movie, Gemini Man, that was released in theaters last month. Ang Lee, directed this action packed film that follows an assassin who is targeted to be killed by a younger clone of himself. Kudos to the writers, David Benioff, Billy Ray, and Darren Lemke. Excellent Job! This movie was awesome, a good message, and the special effects are phenomenal. I highly recommend that you see this movie, if you are a fan of action, suspense and drama. You can watch the movie trailer linked here: https://youtu.be/AbyJignbSj0
November 27th, be on the look out for the film, Queen and Slim, which is a movie about a couple who go out on their first date and the date takes an interesting turn, when the couple is pulled over by a police officer, who pulls out his gun on the couple and a tussle ensued. I won't give away the trailer of the movie, but the trailer is out there. It looks like a good movie with some notable cast, Bokeem Woodbine, Choe' Sevigny, Daniel Kaluuya, and Jodie Turner-Smith to name a few.

TIPS
This month we focus on the Winged Eye Look (Also known as “Cat Eyes”) To get the perfect winged eye look, it is best to use a Black Liquid Liner pencil with pointed tip, which is available at LoveExquisite.com.
Follow these steps:
-Close one eye and with a steady hand, gently apply the Black liquid liner pencil to the top of the eye lid with one stroke, directly above your eye lashes from the inner area to the outer corner of your eye. Make sure that you extend a few inches past the end of your eye lash and stroke upward to create the outer wing tip. Feel free to repeat that step, if you want a wider or darker line.
-Then, from the end of the outer wing tip that you just created, apply the Black liquid liner pencil to create a small line, stroking downward to connect the top winged tip to the end of your bottom eye lash.
-Fill in the middle area of the lines you created to achieve that perfect winged tip/cat eye look. You can apply the Black Liquid Liner as you see fit until you have achieved the cat eye look you want. Repeat the steps for both eyes.
