MLB

Major League Baseball has been on lockdown by team owners since December 2021 and both players and owners have until March 1, 2022 to come up with a game plan.  Several meetings have taken place, but little progress has been made toward a collective bargaining agreement.

 

The League locked out the players.  Spring Training Camp was postponed and games were set to begin on February 26, 2022.  Opening day is scheduled for March 31, 2022.  Not sure what baseball season will look like, but I hope owners and players can get the deal done!!

NFL

Congratulations to Odell Beckham and The L.A. Rams after defeating The Cincinnati Bengals in Superbowl XV1 (23-20).  The game took place in Inglewood, California at The SoFi Stadium.  Cooper Kupp was the 2022 Game MVP.

 

The AFC defeated the NFC (41-35) in the 2022 NFL Pro-Bowl in Las Vegas. 

Justin Herbert was the 2022 Pro Bowl Offensive MVP.

Trevon Diggs won the Best Catch Event

THE SUPER BOWL LVI HALFTIME SHOW WAS LIT-LIT!! THE STARS WERE IN THE BUILDING.  Dr Dre welcomed Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dog, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Special Guest, 50 Cent.

Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Tom Brady, retired at age 44.  During Tom’s NFL career he has played 22 years, 7 Super Bowls, 5 Super Bowl MVP’s and 3 League MVP’s.

 

Aaron Rodgers of The Green Bay Packers won NFL MVP for the 2nd consecutive year.  Aaron has won MVP 4 times.

MLS

** US Women’s Soccer Federation settled an equal pay lawsuit for $24 million dollars filed in 2019. $22 million dollar lump sum will be paid up front and an additional $2 million will be allocated to players post career goals.

​

The Philadelphia Union played their first game of 2022 against Minnesota United at Subaru Park.  The first game was a 1-1 draw with Cory Burke scoring Philly’s first goal of the year.

The NHL All Star Game 2022 Central vs Metro was held in Las Vegas.  Philadelphia Flyers, Claude Gerioux, won MVP.

 

The Philadelphia Flyers are going through tough times.  The team has a record of 16 wins and 26 losses standing in 7th place in the Metro Division.

WNBA

Congratulations to Philly’s own Chicago Sky, Kahleah Copper.  Kahleah made the 2022 Slam Cover and did her slam photo shoot at Girard College.

 

Kahleah and the Chicago Sky are the 2021 WNBA Champions, Kahleah is the 2021 WNBA MVP and also made her first trip to the WNBA All Star game.

 

During Kahleah’s offseason, she played in Spain’s Euro League for the Perfumerias Avenida.

2022 NBA ALL STAR GAME

The 71st NBA All Star Game 2022 took place in Cleveland, Ohio.  Team West (LeBron) defeated Team East (Durant) with a last second jump shot from Lebron James.  The final score was 163-160.  Steph Curry (West) earned Team MVP scoring 50 points.  Joel Embiid led Team East with 36 points.  Kevin Durant did not attend the All Star Game due to the death of his grandmother.

PHILADELPHIA 76’ERS

The Philadelphia 76’ers are 3rd in The Eastern Division with a record of 37 wins and 23 losses.  Finally, a move was made for Ben Simmons.  Ben was traded to The Brooklyn Nets along with Seth Curry and Andre Drummond for James Harden and 2 future first round draft picks.  We gave up a lot and I don’t think that was a fair trade but only time will tell.  Harden made his debut on Friday 2/25/22 against The Minnesota Timberwolves.  James Harden scored 27 points, 12 rebounds and had 8 assists.  The Sixers defeated the Timberwolves 133-102.
