Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility is a company's commitment to operate in a way that benefits society and the environment, beyond maximizing profits. It's a way for companies to self-regulate and ensure they are good stewards of their resources and positively impact the world.

Social responsibility is about putting the people first. Without the people supporting your business, there is no business profit.  So, giving back to the community that serves your business is critical to business success.  Companies can practice social responsibility by doing the following:

Encouraging and supporting employee volunteerism can be a good way for companies to give back to their communities.

Offer scholarships, internships, or mentorship programs to support education and skill development within the community.

Invest in local organizations, sponsor community events, and partner with local businesses, and

nonprofits or social causes to promote their products or services while also raising awareness and funds for the cause for the greater social good.

Being socially responsible in business demonstrates that you care about the people in the community that serves you, or that you care about a cause that you are most passionate about, and don't mind sharing your resources to help others.  All businesses should practice social responsibility.  You should not be only interested in taking the resources from the community that your business is in, you should be willing to give back to the community that keeps your business open. It is good to give globally, but charity should begin in your own business community.
