Dr. Roxanne Contee

This month, we honor and celebrate, Dr. Roxanne Contee, a wife, mother, podcast show host, model, educator, fashionista, and graduate from Saint Joseph's University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice degree.  Dr. "Roc" is a Philadelphia native,  raised in Wynnefield by two wonderful parents.  She is a proud graduate of Overbook High School, is the oldest of four siblings, and is married for 18 years to the love of her life, Earl Contee.

 

Dr. "Roc" also earned a Certification in Special Education and Master of Education from Cheyney University.  She went on to earn an Elementary and Secondary Principal's Certification, as well as a Supervisory Certification from Cabrini College; in addition to earning a Certification in Special Education K- 12, and English 7-12. 

Dr. Roxanne is blessed with one son, a granddaughter, and grandson.  Unfortunately, on February 14, 2021(Valentine's Day), Dr. Roxanne's son, "Geo" was an innocent bystander killed as he was coming out of a store.  This tragedy has fueled her passion for helping others heal from trauma through education and mission work.

Dr. Roxanne began her teaching career with the Philadelphia School District ending with her retirement after 30 years of service.  She was a Special Education elementary and secondary teacher with patience and love for her students.  She published a book on "Designed To Decrease Aggressive Behavior on the Part of the Students in the Classroom."  

Dr. Roxanne has been a committed member of the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society-ETA chapter since 1990, a part of Saint Joseph's Cross Keys 1990, and she also volunteered in middle school with an organization called, "Phenomenal Women."   All of these accomplishments have shaped her into the phenomenal woman that she is today.

 

In 2016, Dr. Roxanne returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher to help students who were struggling academically.  She served as a substitute teacher for 10 years, and has 40 years total experience as an educator teaching children. 

 

Dr. Roxanne is not only intelligent, she is the epitome of what beauty and brains looks like.  She has been a model for 20 years, modeling in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Philadelphia. She is a graduate from John Casablanca Modeling and Acting School, where she learned about modeling and acting. She used the knowledge gained and applied it in several of her acting roles on stage, in magazines, print commercials, and movies.  

 

Dr. Roxanne became a radio personality for Philly Hott Radio, "Whistle While U Work" show  in 2019-2021, where she was the host with the Dell dancing machine, "Showtime."  Dr. "Roc" loves to promote others, as well as talk about topics that are of  concern in our Community.  In 2021,  she decided to launch her own talk show called, Dr. Roxanne Contee Show. The show airs every month on a Saturday at 11am EDT, and she and her co-host, Sharon, interview guests and delve into great topics.  She opens the show by asking trending questions to gain a male perspective from her supportive husband, Earl, the show's manager, and the amazing musician, Brett Jolly,  and also makes time for callers to call in as well. The show airs on Xfinity 66/967HD, and Fios 29/30 worldwide, as well as Roku, AppleTV, and On Demand. This phenomenal woman is not only beautiful, and well educated, she is also an activist, passionate about helping people become their best selves.  When asked about her passion and strength to continue on after losing her son, she states, "We have to help the community and our children, by teaching them to PUT THE GUNS DOWN AND SHOW MORE LOVE. My strength as a mother comes from God, and I praise God every day."   We are delighted to honor and celebrate this Queen, Dr. Roxanne Contee, in the February 2024 issue of the Love Exquisite Magazine.  We are proud of you Queen, and we see you!
