PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

DeSean Jackson returned to the Eagles only to reinjure himself and be out for the rest of the regular season.  We have not heard anything regarding an update on the injury and return of Corey Clement.  DeSean has missed the last four games.  In DeSean’s absence, the Eagles are 1-4.  After returning from his first injury, a stomach strain, DeSean reinjured the core muscle in his stomach during the Eagles vs. Chicago Bears games.  Coach Pederson immediately pulled DeSean from the game.  After the game, DeSean was checked out by the team doctors, then collectively the decision was made that DeSean prepare for surgery.  Initially, when DeSean was injured, he spoke with his team, Doctors and the Coach, then declared that rehab, instead of surgery, was the best decision at that time.  Coach Pederson stated that he can only make recommendations, however, the final decision ultimately  has to be DeSean’s.

DeSean Jackson will be out for the remaining regular season.  Jackson has undergone successful surgery.  Jackson was seen for the first time after surgery working out with his trainer.  The wide receiver was jogging with his trainer, Gary Cablayan, whom Jackson has been training with for more than 20 years.  Cablayan believes DeSean will return to post season and return better than ever.

Malcolm Jenkins sat with rapper Meek Mill and Mayor Jim Kenney to discuss his contribution on selecting the next Philadelphia Police Commissioner.  Malcolm used his platform to attract more than 100 people to a Town Hall Meeting at Community College of Philadelphia.  Malcolm’s goal was to give a platform to Philadelphia residents who may not have the opportunity to have their voices heard otherwise by their City leaders.  Malcolm is very passionate about the next selection of City Police Commissioner.  Transparency and Accountability are key points of discussion and a must for the new chief.  There must be open dialogue and people must be able to speak from their own experiences and voices.

THANK YOU MALCOLM FOR ALL YOUR DEDICATION AND SUPPORT ON AND OFF THE FIELD!!

CLEVELAND VS. PITTSBURGH

On Thursday Night Football, November 14, 2019, The Cleveland Browns played The Pittsburgh Steelers.  Player Myles Garrett was suspended indefinitely by the National Football League for ripping off the Steelers Quarterback, Mason Rudolph’s, helmet and hitting him on the head with the helmet during the final seconds of the game. The Browns were winning (21-7) when the incident occurred.

Garrett tackled Rudolph to the ground after a short pass and both players pulled at each others’ helmets.  Garrett then ripped off Rudolph’s helmet and hit him in the head with it.  Garrett will be suspended through the regular season and post season for his actions.  Garrett was also fined an undisclosed amount of money for unnecessary roughness, unsportsmanlike conduct, and using a helmet as a weapon.

Garrett has taken the National Football League to court to get reinstated.  Garrett stated that Rudolph shouted racial slurs at him during the confrontation.  Stay tuned!!!!!

PHILADELPHIA 76'ers

The 76’ers started off the season with a record of (5-0).  The Sixers are now 13-6 and are 5th in the NBA Eastern Conference.  As of last month, Boston was in 1st place, and Toronto was in 2nd.  Joel Embiid sat out during a few games and the coach states that it was for, "personal maintenance."  What does that actually mean?  Embiid has his struggles and Philadelphia needs him to step up and be the BIG MAN that he is!!!!  His main job is to bang in that paint and stop settling for that missing jump shot.  Joel plays around that perimeter, where we have players who contribute in that position, and where he should not be.  He must know his role and also his teammates roles and contributions to the team.

Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris have both secured healthy contracts this season.  Tobias has been struggling with his shooting and shot selections.  Ben is still searching for that perfect jump shot.  Both men must step up and contribute in effort to help the team have a winning season and to advance into post season. Ben, Joel, and Tobias all look like they are not comfortable with their shot selections. But, Ben finally made that 3 pointer!! Congrats, Ben!!! Tobias has the offensive potential to create his own shot, but has not stepped up. If the 76’ers plan to advance to the post season, someone has to emerge as a reliable shot maker!  With all the valuable pieces, along with all the healthy contracts, the Philadelphia 76’ers must find a way to put all the pieces together, so that the team has an opportunity to play in the post season!!

                                                                   LET'S GO SIXERS!

TEMPLE MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Temple Men’s Basketball Team welcome new coach and former player, Aaron McKie.  Aaron is a Simon Gratz Alumni and Temple University graduate.  Aaron was a standout player for Simon Gratz High, Temple University, and 6th Man for the Philadelphia 76'ers.  The Temple Owls have begun their 2019-2020 basketball season. The Owls was (4-0), after defeating La Salle (70-65) on November 16, 2019, at La Salle’s Trumark Financial Center.  Aaron believes that Temple’s defense has been the team’s biggest contribution to the team, thus far.  Aaron wants the players to remain disciplined and consistent throughout the season to have a successful season.

CONGRATULATIONS AARON, ALL THE BEST IN YOUR NEW COACHING JOB!!
