NBA

Congratulations to the 2021 NBA Champions, Milwaukee Bucks, who defeated the Phoenix Suns.  It was a great battle between two good teams.  

​

The Philadelphia 76’ers had three lottery picks during the draft at 28th, 50th and 53rd.  The Sixers acquired the 53rd overall selection from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for cash considerations.  After winning first place in their division, then having a disappointing playoff run, the 76’ers must make every off season move count.

Can the team win with Ben Simmons?? Will Ben make the cut for the 2021-2022 season.  There are trade rumors surrounding Ben and his future with the 76’ers.

THE NBA DRAFT COMMITTEE SENDS WARMEST WISHES AND PAID TRIBUTE TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF FORMER GUARD FROM KENTUCKY BASKETBALL TEAM TERRANCE CLARK, WHO RECENTLY DIED IN A CAR CRASH IN LOS ANGELES WHILE RETURNING FROM A WORKOUT.  TERRANCE CLARK WAS A 19 YEAR OLD 6’7 GUARD, AND AN ASPIRING HOOPSTER FROM BOSTON, WHO WAS AN ALL AMERICAN.

2021 OLYMPICS

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE 2021 OLYMPIANS!!
 

The 2021 Olympics began July 23, 2021 in Tokyo.  Olympians continue to test positive for the Coronavirus and must drop out of competition and self quarantine.  The Men’s Basketball Olympic Team lost their first game, but quickly recovered and won their last three games to enter the Gold Medal Game.  The Women’s Basketball Olympic Team struggled during their first game, losing to Nigeria.  The team pulled it together to qualify for the Gold Medal Game.
 

We want to send up prayers for Simone Biles, the USA Olympic Gymnast has decided to remove herself from competition to focus on her mental health.  I commend her for putting her mental health first.  There were all sorts of comments on social media regarding her performance and decision to remove herself.  I am not sure what happened for her to reach this decision, however, sometimes it is best to stay off of social media until after the Olympics has ended.
 

The U.S. Women's Basketball team remains undefeated in the group stage, making it their 51st straight Olympic win!  The U.S. soccer team won against Netherlands to advance to the semi-finals.  Go Team USA!

BOXING

​

Last month, McGregor took on Poirier in a UCF fight.  Unfortunately, during the fight McGregor became unbalanced and as a result he broke his ankle, which caused him to fall to the mat and Poirier took total advantage of it and went on to win the fight.  It probably should have been ruled a draw or technicality.

​

Get ready for the Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. fight scheduled for August 21st

in Las Vegas.  This fight should be good.

​

MLB

​

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing better than last season with 50 wins and 50 losses (500%).  They are standing in second place in their division.

NFL

​

Football season begins in September 2021.  We will see what this new season brings.  However, some players are still making the news and not always for good reason.  On July 13, 2021, NFL Player, Richard Sherman was charged with Domestic violence against his wife and his in-laws.  Sherman was jailed but released and will have to attend his court date.
