Applying Lipstick to the Lips

Applying lipstick might seem easy, but the right application depends on the shape of your lips and applying the right shade for your skin tone.

The best way to start is to first apply an exfoliant to smooth and hydrate the lips before applying lipstick.  Select the right lip color for your skin tone.  Then, starting from the top lip, apply the lipstick from the center working outward towards the ear.  Repeat the same step for the bottom lip.  You can use a lipstick brush to achieve the right precision line.  Remove any excess lipstick and always check your teeth to make sure you don't have any lipstick on your teeth.  Close your lips together or blot the lipstick with a dry tissue to balance out the lip color.

If you do not have a highly visible lip line or want fuller looking lips, apply a lip pencil color that is closest to your lipstick color to outline your lips.  Avoid using a black lip liner.  To enhance your lipstick look with a shine, you can apply a clear or glitter lip gloss over your lipstick.  You can also place a small dab of highlighter on your top lip at the center top line of your lips as well for a sexier look.  To make your lipstick last longer, use lipstick with a matte finish.
