Committed to the Process

Sometimes, the process to achieving a goal, no matter what the goal is, can seem like an extremely long journey. As the saying goes, anything of value is worth waiting for. The key is staying committed to the process. Dependent on what the goal is will help you determine what the process could be. Staying committed to the process can be difficult, especially in a world where most prefer instant gratification and immediate reward.
Staying committed to the process is more about discipline and less about motivation. It is more about discipline, because sometimes our motivation fades. To stay committed to any process, you first have to know what and why you want to commit to. Define the process and be committed to taking daily actions to work towards completing tasks necessary to achieve the end goal. Focusing on your WHY will help keep you disciplined. Ask yourself, Why is this important to me? What would I be risking or giving up If I quit on the process? If I do not stay committed to the process, will the outcome of giving up be detrimental to my life?
To stay committed to the process, you will have to learn how to prioritize you, be accountable, and avoid distractions. The process for staying committed could be challenging, especially when things do not go as quickly or as you would like or have planned, initially. It is good to be able to adapt in challenging times and remain committed to the process if you believe or know that it will be worth it in the end. Be honest and realist in your planning and process phase. Be realistic about your capabilities, expectations, and observation of others. If your process includes other people, make sure that they are on the same page and want the same things that you do to avoid a hinderance in the process or outcome.
Keep in mind that it is extremely important that if you are working in collaboration with someone else, all parties have to stay committed to the process for the process to work effectively. Do not overwhelm yourself with the plan or process, so much so that you don’t do anything. Burnout kills commitment. Staying committed to the process will require you to remove your ego and pride, while staying focused on your end goal. What do you really want? Remove all the noise and distractions and take time to focus solely on what you truly want. Challenging times may arise, obstacles may try to interfere. People will try to convince you to give up. If you really want it, Stay committed to the process.
There is no one size fits all approach to anything. The path may change, the steps in the process may change. However, if the end goal is still the same, stay committed to achieving your goal...stay committed to the process. If you don't, you'll never get to your end goal.
