EBONY WILLIAMS, MS.Ed.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Empowerment Educator, Ms. Ebony Williams from Philadelphia, PA, who is an actress, educator, human services professional, and President of Everyday Transitions, LLC, a company that "helps people realize their potential and improve their quality of life." Through the empowering process, their clients gain the clarity they need to better assess their current situations and determine their future plans and direction. Their motto is, “Prepare Today for Tomorrow’s Success," which is the mission of her company.  Ebony shared with us her personal testimony of why it is important for her to help others overcome difficult life challenges, as she shares with us how she is working to navigate through her everyday transitions in life.  We are sharing her testimonial to help someone out there who might be having a difficult time overcoming a difficult situation and want to encourage you and let you know, you too can overcome anything.  Thank you for sharing this with us and living out Your Purpose, Ebony!

If I am being honest prior to the last 10 years, I spent most of my adult life feeling inferior & incompetent when it came to confidence in self & life choices. On March 3, 2010, I fell backwards down 10 steps leaving me with a spinal cord injury, partially paralyzed and many other irreparable issues. After a month, the swelling in my lower back went down, I was no longer paralyzed and I began learning to walk again.  Unfortunately, other life challenges of abandonment, betrayal and emotional abuse, perpetrated by loved ones left me feeling helpless and hopeless. I constantly wondered why all this was happening and what would be my new normal?

All of this internal and external pain caused me to battle with depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation, with a plan. On the night that I thought would be my last, I decided to pray. It was my all night prayers that led me to wake up & hear God tell me "How many people fall backwards down 10 steps and live to talk about it? I gave you a second chance at life, who are you to take it away?” It was then that I realized that I could not focus on the past, because to do so could be the death of me! I began to try to regain my life back, and shift my negative thoughts to positive affirmations.  I began individual counseling and joined the Sexual Abuse Survivors Ministry at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. It was there that I learned to set healthy boundaries and begin peeling back the layers to get at the core of what was eating away at me. In doing so, I created a poem that captured the new essence of my being.  I started to feel better about life and realized how far God has brought me.  I am sharing this poem below with you to encourage you to shift your focus from what you went through, to where you want to go moving forward.  Because, after all, "Everyday is a new day to transition into a new you!"
