NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL:

Congratulations to Kansas Men’s Basketball Team after defeating North Carolina in the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Championship. Kansas defeated N. Carolina 72-69.

 

Congratulations to Villanova’s Coach Jay Wright. After 21 seasons, Coach Wright has decided to retire. During his time at Villanova, Coach Wright has won two National Championships, in 2016 and 2018. Coach Wright went to The Final Four (4) times and was named Naismith Coach of The Year in 2006 and 2016. In 2021 Coach Wright was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame, and he also coached Team USA under Greg Popovich. Coach Wright won eight Big East regular season titles and five Big East Conference Championships.

 

Coach Wright will be replaced by Kyle Neptune, a former basketball assistant and video coordinator of 10 years for Coach Wright at Villanova. Kyle had been the coach for Fordham Men’s Basketball team for one season. During that time the teams record was 16 wins and 16 losses.

 

Coach Wright is the third head coach to retire this season along with Mike Krzyewski from Duke and Roy Williams from North Carolina.

The WNBA drafted their first HBCU Player in 20 years!!!!!

Jackson States’s Ameshya Williams-Holliday was selected in the third round by The Indiana Fever. Ameshya is a 6”4 Center from Gulfport, Mississippi. She averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocked shots per game in her final season. Ameshya was a 3 time SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, and as a senior she was the SWAC Player of the Year!!!!!

NBA PLAYOFFS 2022:

The Boston Celtics was the first NBA team to advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs, defeating The Brooklyn Nets in a 4 game sweep. The Brooklyn Nets was the first team to go home!!!!

 

Milwaukee Bucks sent Chicago Bulls home and Milwaukee will advance to the second round to play Boston Celtics.

 

Miami Heat sent The Atlanta Hawks home and Miami will advance to the second round to play the Philadelphia 76’ers who sent The Toronto Raptors home in the first round.

 

Golden State Warriors sent The Denver Nuggets home and will advance to play The Memphis Grizzlies in the second round.

 

The Memphis Grizzlies sent The Minnesota Wolves home in the first round.

 

The Dallas Mavericks sent The Utah Jazz home in the first round, and will advance to play Phoenix Suns in the second round.

 

The Phoenix Suns sent The New Orleans Pelicans home in the first round.

The Philadelphia 76’ers played Toronto in the 1st round of playoffs the best out of seven games. During the first game the 76’ers defeated Toronto 131-111. The 2nd game the 76’ers defeated Toronto 112-97. In the 3rd game the 76’ers defeated Toronto 104-101. The 4th game Toronto defeated the 76’ers 110-102. In the 5th game the 76’ers appeared tired and couldn’t buy a basket. Coach Doc Rivers rotation was off as well. Toronto blew out the 76’ers 103-88. OMGG!!

In the 6th game, the 76’ers took over and defeated the Toronto Raptors 132-97 to move on to the 2nd round of the 2022 playoffs. The 76’ers will play the Miami Heat in the second round!!! Their work is cut out for them, now that Joel Embiid will be out indefinitely due to a face injury and mild concussion that he suffered in the fourth quarter of game 6, the final game of the series. Jimmy Butler and the Miami team will be ready for the 76’ers. The 76’ers must play together, without Joel, both on defense and offense. We need everybody to step up!!!!!

Tyson Fury defeated Dillian Whyte with a TKO on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at The Wembley Stadium in London. After the fight, Fury stated he won’t return to the ring, as a promise he made to his wife, Paris. Fury talked about a return to WWE.

 

On Saturday, April 16, 2022 Errol Spence Jr. defeated Yordenis Ugas with a 10 round TKO. The fight took place in Arlington, TX. Up next for Errol is Terrance Crawford. Spence stated in a post fight interview that this is the fight everybody wants to see. Errol was scheduled to fight Manny Pacquiao in 2021, but had to pull out after suffering a detached retina on his left eye.

 

NFL 2022-THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:

The Philadelphia Eagles had 10 draft picks total in the 2022 NFL Draft that took place April 28—April 30, 2022. The team started off with (2) selections in the first round, (1) selection in the second round, (2) selections in the third round, (1) selection in the fourth round, (3) selections in the fifth round, and (1) selection in the seventh and final round of the NFL 2022 draft.

 

Within minutes of the Draft, the Eagles went from 10 picks total down to 5.  Below is the list of Eagles Draft picks for 2022:

1. Eagles traded picks No. 15, 124, 162, and 166 to the Texans for pick No. 13. With that pick, the Eagles selected DT - Jordan Davis.

2. Eagles traded picks No. 18 and 101 to the Titans for WR - A.J. Brown.

3. Eagles traded pick No. 154 to the Jaguars for picks No. 188 and 198 (TE - Grant Calcaterra) overall.

4. Eagles traded picks No. 188 and 237 to the Lions for pick No. 181. With that pick, the Eagles selected LB - Kyron Johnson.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a tough losing season. They did not make it to post season playoffs. Some off season trades are needed to move forward and have a chance of winning games next season.
