The Philadelphia Phillies are in spring season and 2019 was the final season for Phillies ex-manager, Gabe Kapler. We welcome new manager Joe Girardi! Joseph Elliot Girardi played in the MLB for 15 years. Girardi played for 4 teams as a catcher; Chicago, Colorado, NY, and St. Louis. After his playing career ended, Girardi became the Yankees bench coach and he also managed the Florida Marlins and was named the National League Manager Of The Year. Girardi won the 2004 World Series, managing the Yankees. The 2019 Phillies improved from their 2018 season and finished with 81-81 (winning 500%) for the first time since 2012. However, the Phillies missed the playoffs for the eighth straight season.
New Coach, New Team, New Season!!!!!!!!!!
LET’S GO PHILLIES
On a different note, former Eagles coach, Andy Reid, who now coaches for the Kansas City Chiefs has a winning team that made it to Superbowl LIV. This is an exciting time for the Chiefs, because they haven't won a Superbowl since the 70's. Well, the losing streak is over, because the Chiefs won against San Francisco 49ers on February 2, 2020 and are Superbowl Champions. Congrats to BIG RED and the Team!
The 2019-2020 Philadelphia 76’ers season is mediocre, at best. With all the talent the team has, we should be better than what we are at this time of the season. It would appear that Embiid and Ben are not on the same page and are not playing well together. The 76’ers are fifth in the NBA Eastern Conference with a record of 35 wins and 21 losses. Ben has missed a few games due to lower back issues. Ben played 29 minutes in the All-Star Game, scoring 17 points, six rebounds and 5 assists, winning for Team LeBron. The 76’ers must pull it together to advance into post season. The team has all the pieces, now put them together!
The All Star Game took place in Chicago this year in February. The slam dunk contest is always the best to watch. Check out some of the highlights from the BleacherReport.com:
On February 24th, a memorial service was held at the Staples Arena in California for the late, great Kobe Bryant and his daughter. A lot of people shared memories of Kobe, while flashbacks of video footage played in the background. Kobe's wife, Vanessa, shared her memories with Kobe and daughter Gi-Gi, who both died in a plane crash. I'm surprised that she was able to keep her composure. There was not a dry eye in the arena. The memorial service was also live streamed and you can watch it via the Washington Post YouTube link below:

On February 22, 2020, Deontay Wilder lost to Tyson Fury in the WBC Championship Fight 2. It was a rematch fight. The first fight took place on December 1, 2019 at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California ended in a DRAW. Building up to the fight Fury and Wilder trashed talked about what they would do to each other. Fury stated that he would knock Wilder out in the second round and Wilder stated that he will knock out Fury and keep his title. Well, the fight was a true upset to all of the Wilder family and fans. After a few back of the head blows, and a massive blow to the ear of Wilder, he could not regain his balance and Fury took full advantage of it. Fury knocked Deontay to the canvas in both the third and fifth rounds. It was a matter of time before Deontay's camp threw in the towel. Deontay did not fight like the Bronze Bomber that we have grown to know. Finally, in the seventh round Wilder’s team threw in the towel, which ended the fight. After the fight, Deontay was taken to the hospital and seen by the medical team for further treatment. Deontay claimed to have experienced an injury to his leg before the fight and attributed this to his loss. Fury came out like a "fury" and took the title. We are praying for Deontays’ speedy recovery and expect that they will face off again in the future, unless someone else gains victory over Fury. Deontay earned 4 million dollars for the fight and Fury earned 3 million dollars for the fight.
The 2019 Philadelphia Eagles suffered a very disappointing season, not living up to the hype! The 2020 Philadelphia Eagles released linebacker, Nigel Bradham. During the season, Nigel had limited play due to his injuries that limited his productivity. The 2020 Eagles are looking to release Alshon Jeffries. However, Jeffries stated he would love to stay in Philadelphia with The Eagles. The Eagles Pass Rusher, Vinny Curry, is NFL’s Most Improved player of 2019. Curry rushed the passer over 200 times. Curry played for Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. CONGRATULATIONS TO VINNY CURRY!
LET’S GO 2020 EAGLES! We're looking forward to having a better season!
The XFL, a Professional American Football League owned by Vince McMahon and Alpha Entertainment, currently has eight teams: St Louis Battlehawks, Seattle Dragons, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats, Dallas Renegades, New York Guardians, Tampa Bay Vipers, D.C. Defenders and L. A. Extreme. Currently, Philadelphia does not have a team, but hopefully in the near future we will join the League.
