EMPOWERING MOMENT
GROWING
The Empowering Word of the Month for August 2024 is, Growing.
Growth is about maturing into adulthood. This process takes some transitioning and transformational thought that involves emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage your emotions and understand the emotions of people around you. Without growing mentally spiritually, and emotionally, it is almost impossible to develop emotional intelligence. As we age, we should be growing, not just growing older, or set in our ways, we should be maturing, adapting, changing, and thinking differently. Our perspectives about life should be different. For example, how we think as children or teenagers, is usually not as advanced or critical as how we think as adults. As adults, we are less influenced by how other people perceive us; or at least we should be.
You have to stop letting people who are not okay with themselves (are at war with themselves) impact your mood, destroy your energy, and make you feel bad about yourself. As adults, we realize that what matters most is how we perceive ourselves. People grow at different times in their lives. Life experiences are what usually impact how well we grow into adulthood or stay stagnant out of fear of failure to grow. If you are not growing, mentally, spiritually, or emotionally, you are doing yourself and those around you a disservice. Even plants grow, when you water them properly. Nothing is meant to remain the same forever. You have to take care of your body, soul, and mind, so that you can continue growing.
You can do this by eliminating toxicity from your life. If something or someone is preventing you from growing, remove it or them. Growing is the natural part of the maturing process. Although, people mature at different levels and timeframes, maturation is the key to growth.
Growth is important because it is the key to living a successful life. When you don't grow, things usually remain the same in your life. Growth leads to professional and economic development, so don't just grow up (in age or height), grow mentally. Expand your mind to think in new and different ways. As each year passes by, continue to challenge yourself to grow, because growth is not a final destination. Continue growing, because there is always something new to learn.
