HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANETTE aka COACH D!!!!!!!!

NBA

76’ERS:

OMGGGGGG!!!! Can you believe all that we gave up to get Harden and we still got knocked out of the playoffs?   OMGGGGGG!!! Can you believe that Joel Embiid did not win the 2022 NBA MVP?? Joel put in work this season with all his physical injuries, including a fractured face. For the second year in a row, Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets won the 2022 NBA MVP. Joel finished behind Jokic in the vote for MVP. Embiid scored a league best 30.6 points per game, having an outstanding season that included going into the post season playoffs.

There was still an opportunity that Embiid could of had the chance to become the NBA Finals MVP, if the 76’ers won the NBA Finals Championship. However, that didn't happen!! Let’s be hopeful that next season will be a full season with Harden, and that the team can remain healthy, Covid-free, and play together as one team.

The Miami Heat defeated the 76’ers (4-2) in a seven game series in the first round of the playoffs to advance into the second round. The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Phoenix Suns and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. The Boston Celtics defeated the 2021 NBA Champions, Milwaukee Bucks, and advanced to the second round.

The final four teams in the playoffs were: Dallas Mavericks (vs) Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat (vs) Boston Celtics in a seven game series. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks 4 -1 in a series that only went 5 games, and advanced to the NBA Finals. The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat, in a series that went all the way to the seventh game, to play the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

The Golden State Warriors will host the Boston Celtics in games 1 and 2 on Thursday, June 2nd and Sunday June 5th at The Chase Center. The Boston Celtics will host the Golden State Warriors in Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday, June 8th and Friday June 10th at the T.D. Garden. If necessary, game 5 will be held on Monday June 13th. Game 6, if necessary, will be held on Thursday, June 16th. Game 7, if necessary, will be held on Sunday, June 19th.

May the best team win the Championship!

On June 24, 2022, former NBA Player, Rasheed Wallace, will have a street named after him.  The intersection at 18th and Hunting Park Avenue will be renamed, Rasheed Wallace Road.  The street renaming is located near Simon Gratz High School, where Rasheed Wallace attended school.  Congrats Rasheed!
