EMPOWERING MOMENT
WORD OF THE MONTH:

SISTERHOOD

The Empowering Word of the Month is Sisterhood

In honor and celebration of our features this month, we decided that Sisterhood is the Empowering Word for the month.  Sisterhood, is not only defined by kinship, it is also defined by having an association or community of women linked by common interests or experiences.  Some people think that women cannot get along with each other and to be honest, there are some women who do not get along for whatever reason.  However, there are some women who work well together.  Women can develop a sense of sisterhood through building trust with one another, being compassionate, encouraging each other,  and being someone that can be counted on.

Real women do not compete against each other, or try to bring each other down, instead they build each other up and work together for the common good.  Some women form a sisterhood out of a sense of belonging and community, or for emotional support.  You can have a good healthy relationship with your biological sisters or step-sisters, dependent on your personality traits and your sisters.  You can also create a sisterhood through social networking connections, being happy for other women, being genuine, staying open-minded, being a good listener, support other women, have a genuine love for one another, communicate respectfully with each other, and inspire other women to be confident about themselves.

A sisterhood is a bond between women, who are not always blood relatives. Developing a true sisterhood can be a way of empowering women, collaborating, promoting self-worth, mentoring, self-love, and allows the freedom to pursue goals and dreams with supportive women encouraging you along the way.  Should you be your sisters' keeper?  Yes, you should. So, are you your sisters' keeper?  Yes, you are!
