EMPOWERING MOMENT

WIN!

The Empowering word of the month for December 2022 is Win.

What does it mean to win?   It depends on how you define what winning is.  For some people, a win is a victory over an opponent, and for others it is a milestone achieved after putting forth effort to achieve a goal.   When you achieve a goal, it is a win (no matter how big or small).  Your perspective plays a critical role in how you define what winning is.  Some people would consider a divorce or a break-up a loss or failure, while others would define it based on the circumstance that caused the divorce or break-up.  For example, if you left someone who was abusive, consistently cheats, and mistreats you, that can be viewed as a win, depending upon your perspective.  If your goal is to start a business and you start a business, that is not immediately generating revenue, some people would view the fact that you are not yet generating revenue as a failure.  However, your goal to start a business was achieved, so that is still a win.  You just can't stop at the win, you have to work on doing things that can help generate revenue for the business.

Your perspective plays a critical role in how you view your life and the lives of others.  Don’t think that you are not winning, because things don’t always go the way that you planned or hoped for.  Sometimes, things do not go the way that we think they should, because there is a lesson that we need to learn from that experience.  Having a positive mindset, will help you view even small achievements as wins, even if you are not where you want to be in life.

If you are still breathing, that is a win, in spite of what you have and don’t have.  I want everybody to win, especially if their heart and mind are in the right place and are aligned with their efforts.  Winning is not as important as your perspective on what a "win" is.  To win at anything it takes time, motivation, consistency, dedication, focus, discipline, and hard work.  Remember, it is not about the "when," it is about the "win."  If you are not successful at something that you at least tried, that effort is still a win.

The fact that you tried is a win; that should propel you to not be afraid of trying again, and again until you reach your goal successfully.

Sometimes, we are too hard on ourselves and we down play the things that we accomplish, because they might not be at the level of someone else’s achievement or where we want it to be.  Even in a football game, if the home team is losing for three quarters and in the last quarter, they will the game, a win is still a win.  We shouldn’t beat ourselves up about the way we played horribly in the first three quarters, although how we played the game in those three quarters will be a teachable moment, you still should embrace the win.  Celebrate and appreciate the win.

If you live long enough, you will find that we lose a lot in life.  For every loss, there is some type of gain. Don't focus or get stuck in the losses.  Celebrate the win!  Whatever you need to do to get on the winning side of your life, do it, even if that means that you have to change your perspective on how you view what a win is.  As this year comes to an end, if you feel like you didn’t win in 2022, rethink about the lessons that you learned along the way, in those lessons is where the win lies.  Take those lessons and put yourself in position to win in 2023.  I believe in you.  You are a winner!  Go Win!
