MLB: 

 

MLB is back!!!!  After 3 months of lockout, on Thursday, March 10, 2022, MLB and the Players Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor deal.  The lockout began on December, 2, 2021 and lasted more than three months.  MLB and The Players Association have until July 25, 2022 to reach a deal on the International Draft that would take place in 2024. 

 

The Philadelphia Phillies MLB opening day is April 8, 2022 against Oakland.  The final regular season game is October 5, 2022 against Houston.

NFL: 

 

Russell Wison was traded to the Denver Broncos. 

Carson Wentz was traded to The Washington Commanders. 

Tom Brady announced that he wants to return to The NFL after retiring from The Tampa Bay Buccaneers in January 2022.

The NFL Draft will take place April 28-April 30, 2022 in Las Vegas. 

 

The Philadelphia Eagles will have 10 selections.  In round 1- #16, 17 and 19; round 2- #51; round 3- #83; round 4- #124; round 5- #154, 162, 166; round 6- #194. 

Round 1 will take place Thursday, April 28, 2022. 

Round 2 & 3 will take place Friday, April 29, 2022. 

Round 4, 5, 6 & 7 will take place Saturday, April 30, 2022. 

 

The Eagles signed Jason Kelce to a 1 year deal worth $14 million dollars.  Kelce is the highest paid Center in the NFL. 

 

Fletcher Cox was released by the Eagles, then re-signed a 1 year deal worth $14 million dollars. 

The Eagles also re-signed Boston Scott to a $1.75 million dollar contract with $1.1 million dollars guaranteed. 

Running back Miles Sanders is in his final year of his rookie contract.  Sanders is the son of former NFL running back Barry Sanders. 

 

The World Games 2022 is in Birmingham, Alabama.  The World Games is an 11 day international event organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee.  World games are held the year following the Summer Olympic Games and will showcase a new generation of global sports from July 7- July 17, 2022.  About 3600 elite athletes from over 100 countries will compete for gold in more than 30 growing sports in the world.

NBA: 

 

The NBA Playoffs are set to begin April 16 through May 30, 2022.  Currently the 76’ers are in second place behind the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference.  The 76’ers are in a great position to make it to the NBA Championship, if both Embiid and Harden remain healthy throughout the post season.  Joel Embiid remains one of the leading contenders for League MVP 2022 along with Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee, Luka Doncic from Dallas. The Phoenix Suns are in first place in the Western Conference.

The Philadelphia Union Soccer Team are off to their best start ever.  The Union are #1 in the Power Rankings.   

 

Congratulations to the United States Men’s Soccer Team qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 

 

NHL: 

 

The Philadelphia Flyers are officially eliminated from the 2022 Playoffs with fifteen regular season games remaining.  The Flyers missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons.  Last year, the Flyers were knocked out of the playoffs with six games remaining in the regular season. 

 

The Flyers traded team captain Claude Giroux to The Florida Panthers.  The team has a lot to talk about and work through during the off season!!
