EMPOWERING MOMENT
WORD OF THE MONTH:

POSSIBLE

The Empowering Word of the Month for April 2022 is, Possible.  As I was thinking about identifying a word of the month for April, the word possible came to mind.  I could not refrain from smiling, just thinking about the word, possible.  As I reflect back over my life, I realize how far God has brought me.  And, I remember the days when I didn't think that most things were possible for someone who grew up in a single parent home, in North Philadelphia, where we went to underfunded public schools, lived in public housing, and struggled financially.  Despite what you've been through, You have to really protect your mental space and what you tell yourself about what's possible for you to achieve.  Some people will tell you what they think you can and cannot achieve, because of what they think is not possible for them.  Some people are stuck in your past, because they cannot get past theirs.  As the saying goes, you cannot tell people who only see at the level of a turtle, your giraffe level dreams, because they will not think that your dreams are attainable.  Your goals are not their goals.  I am here to attest to you that, with God, ANYTHING is possible.  So, keep going.

Anything that you are willing to work towards is possible to achieve.  The secret is, you have to continuously work towards making it possible and pray that God opens doors that no man or woman can shut.  Do not believe the lies of people who will try to get you think that what you want to achieve is impossible.  I was once told by a college professor, who proclaims to be an expert in cultural diversity that, "If you were born in poverty, you will stay in poverty."  The fact that I was sitting in a college classroom with predominately white students and I never thought that I could afford to attend, confirmed for me that anything is possible.  So, I questioned him by providing several examples of people who were impoverished, but are now rich, because they didn't give up on themselves and worked towards achieving what they thought was possible.  His response was, "Well, I guess there are always exceptions, but it is rare."  My response was, "That means there is still hope for me. Thank God."  Years later, as I graduated and advanced in my career I sat in a meeting next to him as a colleague, not as a student. With God, All things are Possible.

You have to believe in you, even when no one else believes in you. In our humanness, sometimes, people will engage in negative thinking, especially when you get impatient from having to wait for a long time for your dreams to manifest. In your impatience, look back over your life and remind yourself of all the things that you have accomplished that you once thought were impossible to achieve.  Stop complaining about what isn't happening and appreciate what is happening.  Appreciate the process that comes with growth. NEVER give up on YOU. The next time someone tries to tell you that something is not possible for you to achieve, your response should be, I dare you to tell God what's not possible for Him.  With Him, ALL things are possible.  Keep going, keep working hard and you will see that Anything is Possible.
