EMPOWERING MOMENT

WISDOM

The Empowering word of the month for July is Wisdom.  One of the most important things that we can ask God for is wisdom.  Wisdom to make the right decisions in life.  Wisdom to make better decisions.  Wisdom to comprehend the world around us.  Wisdom to understand the “why” of human behavior.   Wisdom to know when to walk away and wisdom to know when to stay.  Wisdom, to know that someone else’s problem is not always your problem to fix.  Wisdom can be gained through life experiences.  Life experiences teach us what to do and what not to do, if we learn from our experiences.

Wisdom helps us make good judgment.  To have wisdom is to be wise.  To be wise, we must be honest with ourselves when making life decisions. Being honest with ourselves requires us to utilize critical thinking skills.  Critical thinking skills require us to use good judgment when making life decisions. Good judgment requires us to think morally and ethically.

If what you are doing is working for you and you are happy, keep doing those things.  If what you are doing is not working for you and you are not happy, be wise enough to stop doing the things that make you unhappy.  When you make life decisions with wisdom, you don’t have to make excuses about the decisions you choose to make.  You also don’t feel the need to explain why you made certain decisions.  Wisdom allows you the opportunity to know that you don’t have to explain anything to anybody, unless you are a teacher explaining course concepts or explaining how to do something.  You don’t have to feel bad about your decisions, when you make wise decisions.

How do you know when you are making wise decisions? Wise decisions are usually the decisions that make sense, morally and ethically.  Using wisdom puts you in a position that sets you up for success.  When you don’t always make wise decisions, you have to suffer the consequences for your actions, so be wise.  Take a look at your life and the decisions that you are making and ask God to empower you with wisdom.
