The Empowering Word of the Month for January 2024 is, Open.

​

Having an open mind and an open heart can be a vulnerable state of being. However, being open, is better than being guarded.  When you have an open mind, you are more willing to listen to new and different thoughts and ideas.  When you have an open heart, you are more willing to give and receive love.  When you are open, you allow a flow of endless possibilities to come into your life.  Some could be good, and some could be bad opportunities.  However, being guarded, prevents both good and bad opportunities from entering in your life.

 

When you are open, you still have the flexibility of making the decision to be as open, or as closed as you want to be with certain things that you want to allow or not allow into your life.  When you have a closed mindset and a closed heart, there is no flexibility, and it is almost impossible for you to learn, and receive the good things in life. The point is, do not be closed off from life, or to living a more fulfilling and enriching life. 

 

Because we do not know everything, we should always approach things and people with an open mindset.  Because, all of us need love and deserve love, we should always be open to giving and receiving love.  It can be difficult to give and receive love, after we are hurt by someone we love.  However, we shouldn't always have to meet someone who has been hurt and remind him/her that I am not the person/people that hurt you.  I am not your mother, I am not your father, I am not your sister, I am not your brother, I am not your ex, I am not the person who hurt you.  We are here on earth to love one another, and for us to be able to fulfill that love, we have to have an open mind to be ready for love.

 

Remember, you only get one life to live.  Every day that you close yourself off from things and people, the lesser are the things that you are doing with your life that could be beneficial to, and for you, to live a more fulfilling life.

In this new year, I implore you to move differently.  I implore you to stop doing yourself a disservice by being closed.  I implore you to think different.  I implore you to approach the way you might feel about love differently, after being hurt.  I implore you to Be Open....

Open to receive what you want in your life.

Open to feedback from others that you can learn from.

Open to being coachable.

Open to learning new things and different ways of achieving the same goal.

Open to giving and receiving love.

Open to listening and learning.

Open to sharing your thoughts and ideas through effective communication.

Open to the possibilities of doing things differently.

 

Be open.  In regard to being open to love, do not try to force someone who is not ready to be open, to open up to what you want from them, because you might end up getting hurt, if he/she is not ready to be open to love.  Also, do not let anyone rush you into being ready to open up to love, because if you feel forced, it usually isn't authentic love.  Nevertheless, opening up to be loved and to give love is a good thing to do, just make sure it is the right person on the receiving end...when you are ready and open to love. 

 

Just keep in mind that when your mind is inflexible and your heart is closed, you limit yourself.  Life is too short for that.  I don't know about you, but I'm open.  I hope one day, you'll be open too; when you're ready.  Try not to waste too many years being closed minded, or being closed off to love, because you are afraid to get hurt.  We are usually hurt, because we need love and are afraid of love, or don't know how to receive it.  There is always something new to learn.  All of us deserve to be loved, and feel worthy of giving and receiving love.  I pray for your Openness.  Open is the Empowering Word for this new month and new year!  Make it a Happy, New Year!
