EMPOWERING MOMENT

TELL

The Empowering word for the month of December is, Tell.  Too often there are so many men and women who are suffering in silence.  The suffering could be caused by different things that occur in life.  For some reason, people choose to be silent about experiences that might not be pleasant to them; either because of fear, embarrassment, shame, or not being ready to take the necessary steps to end the suffering.  This month, I want to encourage everyone to speak up and do not remain silent.  If there is something that is happening to you that you are uncomfortable with, is inappropriate, unpleasant, I strongly encourage you to tell someone that you trust about it.  The person that you tell should be someone who will give you unbiased, non-judgmental advice on how to handle whatever it is that you are going through in a positive way.

Even if the perpetrator threatens to hurt you or your family members, speak up anyway.  You could be stopping it from continuing to happen to you, as well as prevent it from happening to someone else.  It is not your fault what someone else does to you, so hold them accountable for their actions.  If he/she has a problem with you telling someone, that is usually an indicator that what they are doing or saying to you is wrong.

If you are being human trafficked, tell.  If you are in an abusive relationship, tell.  If you are being touched
inappropriately, tell.  If you are being harassed, tell.   If you are being sexually abused, tell.  If you are being mistreated in any way, tell.  If you are being bullied, tell.  The quickest way you can get them to stop, is by telling someone that you trust what is happening.  Don’t be afraid to tell.   Do not worry about the phrase, “Snitches get stitches.”  Don’t carry negative experiences into a new year, end it now, Tell.
