EMPOWERING MOMENT
WORD OF THE MONTH:

WELLNESS

The empowering word of the month for December is Wellness.   Wellness is defined as the state of being in good health.  It is the practice of healthy habits to attain physical and mental stability.   Wellness can also be associated with spiritual strength and the greater good.  For some people who have lost loved ones by death or separation, the holiday season can be a stressful time and the stress can impact your mental health and wellness.  If you struggle with being well this holiday season, try shifting your mind to think about how much your loved ones want you to  be happy and whole, instead of thinking about the loss itself.  When you lose someone, it doesn’t mean that you should also lose yourself.  Because, you are still here on earth, you have a life to continue to live.  Your loved one would not want you to die inside when the relationship is over, so much that you stop living a life that will make you happy.  Your loved one would not want you to stop living, because he/she is no longer there with you.   You deserve to be happy and whole, so do not stop living and doing things that make you happy.

When you lose someone, allow yourself to go through the stages of grief.  Go through, the stages, but do not get stuck dwelling in any of the stages.  If your loved one died and you find yourself year after year battling depression, social withdrawal, and crying about your loved one during this time of the year.  Try wiping away your tears and honoring him/her by doing something that he/she liked to do and remember the good times that you shared with him/her knowing that they are still always with you in spirit.  Cherish the memories, while embracing your new normal.

If your relationship ends and you find yourself obsessing over thoughts of when you were in a relationship during this time, try  to refocus on you and what you want for your life in this current moment moving forward and strategize and develop a plan to get there.  Work on becoming emotionally stable, so that you can live a fulfilling life.  Practice good physical health and building social networks and relationships.  Take the time to work on your mental stability and reclaiming your happiness.  Your happiness matters to your mental state of mind, as well as to your emotional and financial stability.  Depression can rob you of joy and opportunities to thrive, grow and become intellectually sound.

I pray that in this moment, you make a promise to yourself and make it your duty to work toward not spending another year stuck in a depressive state dwelling on anything or anyone that you lost by death or separation.  I pray that you resurrect yourself from the grave that you buried yourself in when your loved ones died…know that you did not die with them.  I pray that you let 2021 be the last year that you stop living, loving and being happy.  Now is the time for you to breathe, take a walk, get up, overcome depression, plan a relaxing weekend getaway, laugh again, love again, be whole again, learn how to say, no, to not over exert yourself or indulge in what makes other people happy, while forsaking what makes you truly happy, read daily positive affirmations, encourage yourself, meditate, join a support group, and choose healing and happiness over depression and negative thinking.  I pray that you live again.  I pray for your wellness.  Get the help you need to be whole and healthy. 2022 is waiting for YOU, make your loved ones proud, make yourself proud.  LIVE and BE Well.
