Darlene Smith is the August 2020 Beauty and Brains of the month.  Darlene is the beautiful mother of Lynnette Clement, who is also the co-editor of the Love Exquisite Magazine.  Darlene also helped to review and edit Lynnette’s new book.  She is also the mother of Danette Clement, the sports columnist who graced the July 2020 cover of this magazine.  Darlene aka “Dolly,” is a soft-spoken, spiritual, loving, hardworking, kindhearted, caring, and intelligent woman.   She spent thirty-four years working for the Medical Records Department at a local hospital in Philadelphia and currently works for the First Judicial District of Philadelphia.  Her hard work and resilience does not go unnoticed.
 

As a single mother Darlene spent a large part of her adult life caring for others.  She raised two beautiful daughters, cared for her grandmother, Dorothy, until she went home to glory, and briefly helped raise two of her nephews.  Darlene enjoys listening to music, playing games of chance, spending time with family, and singing.  Because of the constant presence of the musical talent in her family, it is no surprise that Darlene sings in the gospel choir at her church.   Darlene is the oldest of five siblings, but looks like she drinks from the fountain of youth.  She is beautiful inside and out and we couldn’t let the month of August go by without honoring her for her birthday month.  We highlight and honor Darlene Smith in our August 2020 magazine issue.
