PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

The Philadelphia Flyers will resume play on August 2, 2020.  The Flyers have endured much since Covd-19.  It appears that the team has banded together after Oskar Linblom’s cancer diagnosis in December.  Since then, Oskar has been cleared and is now free of cancer.  Welcome Back Oskar!!!

The NHL and it’s players re-opened training camp on July 7, 2020. 

The Flyers will play the Bruins on August 2, 2020 in Toronto.  The team will participate in a three game seeding tournament.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Live baseball has returned!! On June 24, 2020 MLB owners and players reached an agreement to play 60 games.  Training Camp opened up on July 1, 2020.  The season began on July 23, 2020.  The Phillies played three exhibition games: Phillies ( 7)  Washington (2), Phillies (2) N.Y. (2), Phillies (1) Baltimore (4). 

The Phillies lost their season opener vs Miami, however they won the second game.  The look is different due to Covid-19.  ABSOLUTELY NO FANS!!!! Phillies Blue Jays game postponed after one staff member and one coach from the Phillies tested positive for Covid-19.

Congratulations to Coach Alyssa Nakken on becoming THE FIRST FEMALE MLB COACH for The San Francisco Giants!! Alyssa is a first base coach.  She joined the organization in 2014 as an intern.  She then became the first female coach on staff and in the leagues history.

 NFL

The NFL is scheduled to return to play, however, in July 59 players tested positive for Covid-19.  Players and team owners have agreed to the Health and Safety Protocols to open training camp on time.  Team facilities opened up with restrictions such as daily testing, wearing a mask, and maintaining social distancing.  NFL rookies reported to training camp on July 21, 2020, while QB’s reported on July 23, 2020.  All other players must report by July 28, 2020.  Lane Johnson tested positive for Covid-19, but has recovered.

NBA 

The National Basketball Association and its players have agreed to complete the season in Orlando, Florida, in THE BUBBLE.  The bubble is isolated play without FANS!!
 

THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS, played their first scrimmage since COVID-19.  The NBA has taken Health and Safety Protocols to protect the players, such as testing every day, no fans, and social distancing.  So far, no players have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Sixers scrimmaged against the Orlando Magic and won.  Ben Simmons led the team to a 90-83 victory.  The team did not disappoint.  Cohesion was a bit delayed, however this was the team’s first time playing as a unit.  The 76ers look solid and ready to be a disruption to the league.

The WNBA resume play in Florida at the IMG ACADEMY.  Teams began play in July.  Teams must adhere to the Health and Safety Protocols that are in place.  Some players are opting out of play due to underlining health issues.

MAYA MOORE

 

Maya Moore is known as a professional women’s basketball player.  She has many basketball honors.  Maya Moore is more than a basketball player.  Maya is an activist, striving for social and economic justice!!

Maya Moore is a phenomenal basketball player who put her career on hold to help Jonathan Irons, who was wrongfully convicted of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.  Maya helped to get Jonathan’s sentence overturned.  Jonathan was sentenced to 50 years in jail at  The Missouri Jefferson City Correctional Facility.
 

Jonathan was released after serving 23 years!!

BOXING

On September 12, 2020, retired boxers, Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr. will fight in an 8-round exhibition bout that will air live on Pay-Per-View and Triller.  This fight should be quite interesting.
